Is Rittz A Guest In The House Of Hip Hop? Rittz Answers Lord Jamar’s Claims In Interview [Video]
Rittz: he is the emcee known as White Jesus.
In a ever-growing culture founded on the musical and cultural innovations of African Americans, hip hop still has an evolving understanding of white artists’ place in the genre that has taken the world by storm.
As evidenced by Lord Jamar’s statements (which can be viewed below) that white rappers are guests in the house of hip hop, the music has yet to be completely homogenized, and perhaps never will be despite the success of artists like Eminem, Macklemore and Rittz.
Rittz responded to Lord Jamar’s assertions in the video above, stating that while he does respect that hip hop and rap is a part of black culture and that whites will forever be guests in it, it should never limit the creativity of anyone who has earned their stripes as part of the culture, which addresses Lord Jamar’s claims that Macklemore’s song “Same Love” should have no place in hip hop because it’s an “outside” agenda being pushed by a caucasian “guest.”
